Mountain Activities This Week

STEAMBOAT’S GONDOLA OPENS FOR SUMMER!
The Gondola is open daily for scenic rides throughout the summer season. Gondola tickets are valid all day, weather permitting. Tickets are available at the Summer Ticket Office in One Steamboat Place, or in the Information Center in Gondola Square, both open daily 9am-5pm.  Adults $20, Youth (6-12 years) $10, and Children 5 & under are Free.  

THURSDAY NIGHT SUNSET HAPPY HOUR June 28
Cocktails and live music at 9,131 ft. above sea level and so much more!  Join us on Thursday, June 28 as we kick off the summer season with the first of the weekly Thursday Night Sunset Happy Hour series. Enjoy the spectacular sunset, live music from Sean Patrick McGraw, tasty tapas and your favorite cocktail at the top of the Gondola.  $12 price includes Gondola ride and first beer, wine or cocktail. Complimentary entry for Steamboat season pass holders. Upload Gondola from 5:30-7:30pm. Recommended for adults only.  970-871-5150

BEAR RIVER UMBRELLA BAR & TERRACE
The Bear River Umbrella Bar & Terrace is open serving a variety of items from the grill, including Fish, Chicken and Steak Tacos as well as classic summer beverages every Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer season. Bear River Live Music Fridays will start Friday, June 29 at 4pm with Sean Patrick McGraw kicking off the season! The Bear River Umbrella Bar & Terrace is located in Gondola Square, just off the Promenade. Open Friday – Sunday 11:30am-7pm. 970-871-5150

ART ON THE MOUNTAIN June 29 – July 1
You won't want to miss the 11th annual Art on the Mountain festival featuring a wide variety of arts and crafts from over thirty vendors including jewelry, photography, pottery and so much more! The festival will take place from 10am to 5pm Friday through Sunday, June 30-July 1 in Gondola Square at the base of the ski resort.  On Friday, June 29 there will be live music from Sean Patrick McGraw on the Bear River Terrace at 4pm. On Saturday, June 30 there the Free Summer Concert Series kicks off at 5pm with a concert featuring Dark Star Orchestra.  www.steamboat.com/artonthemtn

OPENING CELEBRATION & DARK STAR ORCHESTRA CONCERT June 30
The Mountain Village Partnership will be hosting an Opening Ceremony of the promenade on Saturday, June 30 at 5:30pm on the new Steamboat Stage. The event will include a ribbon cutting from the Chamber and an opportunity to showcase all the new improvements.  The first concert of the Free Summer Concert Series featuring Dark Star Orchestra will follow. This is a great opportunity to kick back and relax on the hills of Mt. Werner while sipping an ice cold beer from the Bear River Umbrella Bar & Terrace, and check out some unique artwork from the Art on the Mountain vendors in Gondola Square. SUNDAY BRUNCH ON THE MOUNTAIN
Join us for our famous ‘Brunch on the Mountain’ from 9:30am - 1:00pm on Sundays throughout the summer. Take a scenic Gondola ride to a spectacular Champagne brunch complete with a carving station, omelet station, seafood specialties, blintzes, French toast, eggs Benedict, chocolate fountain, an array of desserts and so much more. TWO WHEEL TUESDAY AT BEAR RIVER July 3
The Steamboat Bike Shop and the Bear River Bar Umbrella Bar & Terrace team up to provide the 1st Mountain Village Partnership Two Wheel Tuesday on July 3, with a special promotion and debut of the Steamboat Bike Park. The Gondola will operate with extended hours, for bikers only, to provide access to the Steamboat Bike Park from 5:30 – 7:30pm (Upload). Bike Access tickets are only $10 and Bike Rentals are $25 (includes bike access). Those who have a Bike Pass and/or purchased a day pass that day will have valid access as well. Other options for Cross Country enthusiasts include starting at the base and riding up Zig Zig to Valley View and back to the base, or any number of other available routes in the area. Kids can ride Striders along the Promenade and/or Core Trail. Participants are invited to join in the Two Wheel Tuesday fun at the Bear River Umbrella Bar & Terrace before, during, or after their ride.  The Bear will be open from 5 – 9pm with 2-for-1 Baja Taco’s and $2 Budweiser & Bud Light drafts, along with other food and drink specials.  

KIDS’ ADVENTURE CLUB
Share friendship and adventure, hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking, arts & crafts and other outdoor activities. Kids 3-12 years old have the opportunity to experience a “hands-on” exploration of Steamboat and its special western surroundings.  Lunch is available for $8.50 additional or you can provide a bag lunch.  The Kids’ Adventure Club operates daily through August 24 and is open from 7:30am to 5:30pm, with activities from 9am to 4pm.  Single day rate is $57 per child; 7 day advance purchase rate is $52 per child.  970-871-5390

COCA-COLA ADVENTURE ZONE ACTIVITIES
Have a go at the Mechanical Bull and test your skills as a true Steamboat Cowboy.  Or get strapped in and jump up to 24 feet in the air on the Bungee Trampoline.  This is an excellent way to practice your front and back flips.  Or grab a buddy and get dizzy in the 2-person Gyro Chair.  Don’t miss the ‘East Face’ Climbing Wall, Children’s Mini Bounce or the daring ropes course.  All activities are located in Gondola Square. Tickets are for sale in the Summer Ticket Office in One Steamboat Place, at the Steamboat Bike Shop and in the Information Center.

HAZIE’S DINNER
Before we set the table, we set the stage.  A nighttime ride up the Gondola tells you that this is not going to be an ordinary night out. An exceptional wine list, stunning views out 20’ windows of the Yampa Valley 2,000 feet below, and a dazzling menu of New American cuisine confirm the fact that this night is indeed, anything but typical. Hazie’s is open for dinner Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights beginning June 28. The Pre fixed menu includes a three-course chef prepared meal and Gondola Ride. Adults $36; Youth (6-12) $19, 5 & Under $9. Appetizers and cocktails are also available at the Bar.  Call 970-871-5150 for reservations.

THUNDERHEAD SHOP
While you’re at the top of the Gondola, visit the Thunderhead Shop and check out a unique selection of Steamboat logo wear, souvenirs and gifts. The Thunderhead Shop is the only store located at the top of the mountain for last minute necessities, including sunscreen, bottled water, sun hats, sunglasses and other outdoor gear. Located lobby level of Thunderhead at the top of the Gondola, open daily from 10am – 3:30pm. 970-871-5347

GUIDED GOURMET LUNCH HIKE
The Guided Gourmet Hike is a fun, informative and invigorating hike among the wildflowers on beautiful Mt. Werner. Guided by a Steamboat Ambassador with stops along the way for informative talks and photo ops. The hike follows the Vista Nature Trail (approx.. 1 mile) and takes about one hour. After the hike, guests will be treated to a gourmet lunch and glass of wine on the 3rd floor deck of Thunderhead overlooking the stunning Yampa Valley.  The cost is $45; hikes are offered Wednesday, Friday and Sunday starting June 27. STEAMBOAT APPAREL & GIFTS
Steamboat Apparel & Gifts, is the greatest store in Steamboat to pick up new, casual and technical gear from a variety of vendors, including: Lole, The North Face, EMU, and Marmot.  Steamboat Apparel & Gifts, is the only downtown location in Steamboat carrying official Steamboat logo tees, hoodies and souvenirs.  Located on Lincoln Ave. between 7th and 8th Street.  Open Sunday-Thursday 11am-6pm; Friday & Saturday 10am-8pm. 970-871-5681

THE OASIS
Kick back and relax at 9,131 ft. above sea level while you sip a favorite frozen cocktail or ice-cold beer.  Non-alcoholic drinks and a full menu from the grill are available.  The Oasis is located on the third floor sundeck at the top of the Gondola. Open daily from 11am-4pm; Grill open from 11:30am – 2:30pm.

THE CABIN
The Cabin has edibles for every taste and occasion featuring Colorado produce, meat and game. The Cabin is a restaurant focused on fun, value, local and sustainable ingredients, all served with a hearty helping of Steamboat’s warm hospitality and friendly service.  Open daily for Breakfast 7-11am, Happy Hour 4-6pm, and Dinner 5:30-10pm. STEAMBOAT BIKE SHOP
The Steamboat Bike Shop is the premier bike shop in Gondola Square, covering all your biking adventure needs, including bike and gear rentals for both on the mountain and around town.  The Steamboat Bike Shop carries a variety of gloves, pads, helmets, tubes, bike clothing, Camelbaks and an array of Steamboat logo wear and accessories. Located in the Sheraton, on the edge of the Promenade. Open daily 9am-5pm. 970-871-5352

GONDOLA JOE’S
Proudly serving Starbucks Coffee, Gondola Joe’s is open for breakfast and lunch in Gondola Square.  Offering specialty coffee drinks, frozen drinks, gelato, ice cream, bagel sandwiches, fresh yogurt parfaits, Panini sandwiches and salads. Pick up a freshly prepared box lunch, snack or cold drink for your hiking or biking adventure.  Open daily 8am-4pm.
 
HAYMAKER PATIO GRILL
Come on in to the Haymaker Patio Grill and spend quality time with friends and family in a beautiful mountain environment.  Open daily, located at the Haymaker Golf Course. For reservations call 970-879-1265.  There is a reason to visit every night of the week!

FREE AMBASSADOR GUIDED MOUNTAIN HIKING TOUR
Our friendly Ambassador staff offers a complimentary mountain hiking tour for intermediate and advanced hikers. The tours are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays, leaving from the Information Center at 10:30am. Learn everything from the forest and the resort to the Yampa Valley and its history. Call 970-871-5444 to reserve a spot. The tour is free; a Gondola ticket or season pass is required.
